RMC Medical Research Current Studies

We are currently looking for volunteers to take part in the following clinical trials. If you are interested please complete the online form and we will get back to you with more information.


>> Do you have Type 2 Diabetes

  • Are you between 40-85 years of age?
  • Do you take Metformin?
  • Are you currently taking either an oral diabetes medication or no diabetes medication at all?
  • Not taking insulin

If your answers are YES then you may be suitable to take part in a study of 400 weeks duration to measure the effect of a new potential treatment on diabetes management.

Eligible participants receive:
• All study-related care and study medication at no cost.

>> Do you have COPD? (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) 

  • Do you smoke or have you been a smoker?
  • Are you 40-80 years of age?
  • Is your COPD relatively stable?

You may be eligible to take part in a research study of a potential new medicine to treat COPD.

>> Immune Response in Ageing Study 

RMC Medical is seeking volunteers to participate in a clinical research study of an investigational medication.

To qualify for this research you must be 65 years of age or older.

Please consult with your doctor if you are eligible to participate in this clinical study.

You will be compensated for time and travel.
 
The safety and efficacy of this investigational medication has not yet been proven.

>> Have you been diagnosed with Asthma? 

  • Are you etween 12 – 75 years of age?
  • Are you a Non-Smoker?
  • Does your asthma wake you up at night? Do you wheeze? Does your asthma worsen and limit your activities even though you routinely take your asthma medications?
  • Willing to participate in a 52 week study?

If you answered YES to all of the above then you MAY be eligible to participate in a research study.

Are there any age limits?
There are no set ages as such - each study will have its own requirements which will be detailed on the Current Studies page.

Is there any payment?
In some studies you may receive payment for your time and travel costs.

Do I have to be healthy?
It all depends on the clinical study - some may need healthy volunteers, however others will need people with specific medical conditions.

Can both men and women take part?
Yes, many studies involve both genders but some will have restrictions depending on the type of medicine being tested. Women who take part will have to avoid becoming pregnant during the study.

What if I change my mind?
Your involvement is voluntary and you may withdrawal from a study at any time, for any reason.

Once I decide to volunteer, will I receive more information on the studies?
If you participate in a research study you will be provided with a comprehensive information pack that will explain the purpose of the study, why you have been chosen to part take in the study, how long it will last, what is involved, the benefits of participating.

What information will I need to give?
Your personal information, such as your name, address and contact details. These will be kept by RMC Medical Research Ltd and will remain confidential. It will also be necessary to collect health information from participants in any study. It will be collected by the study doctor and site staff of RMC Medical Research Ltd. The information collected will be for the purpose of the clinical study and it may also be used in a 'de-identified' form for other medical or scientific purposes such as publications in medical or scientific journals.

All efforts, within reason, will be made to keep the personal information in your research record private but total privacy cannot be promised. Your information made be shared with the organisation commissioning the study or government agencies such as Medsafe or the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in America.
